Hi there, I’m Katelynn
I love nerding out about the nervous system and genuinely enjoy getting to be a therapist. I like reading as well as collecting books, new and old. I have a cheesy sense of humor (a good pun makes my day), and I’m passionate about travel and photography. One of my favorite places I’ve visited is Iceland. The landscapes are absolutely breathtaking. When I’m not exploring new places, you’ll find me relaxing in my hammock with my dogs, admiring my collection of houseplants.
My approach to therapy
I use Somatic Experiencing and an attachment-based approach; however, my overall approach will be tailored to meet you exactly where you are in your healing journey. I believe therapy should never feel like too much. The pace and depth of our sessions will always honor you and the capacity of your nervous system — and evolve as you grow.
I believe therapy is a place for laughter as well as tears. This is a place where you can be your most authentic self. So, bring your messy and your memes; it’s all welcome here.
Let’s talk education and experience
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Missouri and Texas with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Missouri–St. Louis.
My journey began at a local eating disorder treatment center, where I worked as both an individual and group therapist at the PHP level of care. It was there that I began integrating body-based work into therapy, receiving training in Embodied Recovery Level 1 and discovering my passion for somatic healing.
I went on to join a group private practice, deepening my skills and experience before opening my own practice, Lamplight Counseling, in 2023.
That same year, I completed a three-year training in Somatic Experiencing® and became a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP). I am also an approved provider for beginning-level SE students.
In 2025, I completed all four modules of DARe (Dynamic Attachment Re-patterning experience) training, and as a lifelong learner, I’m always exploring what’s next — continuing to grow both personally and professionally in service of the people I work with.
