Hey there,

My name is Katelynn. I’m a somatic therapist and the human behind Lamplight Counseling.

How do I get started?

01

Reach out

Send an email briefly listing what brings you to therapy and include any questions you might have.

02

Schedule

If I am a good fit for your initial concerns we will schedule an intake session.

03

Intake

Intake sessions are 50 minutes. We will go through some of your history but the main goal is to get to know each other and to get comfortable.

04

Heal

You’ve found your safe place to do this work! I’ll be here to you guide you and your nervous system along the way.

What does therapy look like?

Approach

I utilize an integrative approach in my work with clients. I use Somatic Experiencing and an attachment-based approach most often but my overall approach will be tailored to fit where you are at in your journey. I believe therapy should never feel like too much. The work we do will match the capacity of your nervous system and grow as you grow.

Somatic Experiencing (SE™)

SE is a somatic (body-based) therapy that resolves symptoms of stress, shock, and trauma that accumulate in our bodies. When we are stuck in patterns of fight, flight, or freeze, SE helps us release, recover, and become more resilient.

Somatic

Traditional talk therapy has historically left out the body. Somatic therapy goes deeper by including both the brain and body. This might look as simple as checking in with the body during session or it might involve us getting up and moving around in different ways. The options are endless.

Space

I believe therapy is a place for laughter as well as tears. This is a place where you can be your most authentic self. So, bring your messy and your memes; it’s all welcome here.

In Person Sessions

One on one therapy sessions in person in Tower Grove.

Virtual Sessions

Nervous to come in person? Can’t make in person work with your schedule? No problem. I can provide virtual sessions for you as long as you are physically in the state of Missouri at the time of the session.

Walk and Talk Sessions

Walk and talk therapy can help make sessions feel more casual and double as a means of regulation! We may walk part of the session and find a nice spot to rest, walk the whole time, or start outside and then head into the office. Walking sessions are held in Tower Grove Park.

Experience

I have a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Missouri St. Louis and am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Missouri.
I first started my career at a local eating disorder treatment center where I worked at the PHP level of care as a group therapist and individual therapist. I received training in Embodied Recovery and began my journey as a somatic therapist. I later joined a local group practice where I continued to grow my skills.
Then came 2023 and the creation of Lamplight!
Most recently I became a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner after three years of training. I am already planning what training is next. I’ve accepted I’m destined to be a lifelong learner.

About Me

I love nerding out about the nervous system and collecting books. I have a cheesy sense a humor and love a good pun. I enjoy traveling and photography. My favorite place I have ever been is Iceland (it looks like an alien planet and it is absolutely gorgeous.) As much as I enjoy travelling I also enjoy chilling in my indoor hammock with my dogs and staring at my many plants.
